The Cold War of the 1950's saw global superpowers battling for supremacy. In this forge, the Russian martial art of Systema was created, with the Soviet government commissioning combat researchers to travel the world to study, integrate and refine various fighting methods. They incorporated concepts from their own native traditions, ultimately creating the Soviet arts of Sport Sambo, Combat Sambo and Samoz, which later became modified and known simply as Systema (literally "the System").
After years of high level study with leading Russian masters, Kevin Secours broke free of conventional lineages to approach Systema from a decidedly Western perspective. He pressure-tested the strengths and benefits of every concept and technique, and ultimately took only what served him, building his Combat Systema curriculum on a scientific approach to biomechanics, breath training, and combat psychology.
In his landmark book, originally published by the legendary Paladin Press, Secours keeps things practical, provable, and profitable so you can incorporate what works best for your into your self-defense training.
