Blending, Bleeding and the Blade
Day 3 will focus on the Russian approach to knife defense. Based on the idea of body intelligence, many drills are intended to deeply integrate the role of yielding and deflecting. Too often however, this work erodes into highly compliant, delusional body absorption and suicidal disarms that would never be possible under stress and against a resistant opponent. In the third day, students will learn how to separate the value of the essential drills and dispel the bunk, following the work through a natural progression from soft to fully resistant scenario training. The focus of this download is to provide students with a progressive set of isolation drills that will test the effectiveness of their existing reflexes and trained responses. Rather than trying to impose a new set of beliefs on top of their beliefs, this day is dedicated to exploration and self discovery. Too often, instruction imposes new beliefs and ideals on top of old ones, like trying to fill a bucket that is already full. This day is about identifying what's already in the bucket, to see if it needs to be emptied first.
